Day 3
Shanghai/Suzhou (AB,L,D)
Enjoy a city tour featuring the bustling shopping street Nanjing
Road, and the famous promenade along the Huangpu River, the Bund.
After lunch, take an afternoon train to Suzhou, then check in to
the Hotel. Visit the Garden of the Master of Nets in afternoon.
Day 4
Suzhou/Wuxi (AB,L,SD)
The morning program begins with a visit to the Humble Administrator's
Garden, followed by Tiger Hill - the symbol of Suzhou - and the
Silk Embroidery Research Institute. After lunch, enjoy a 3 1/2 hour
cruise along the Grand Canal. This amazing man-made canal is China's
only North-South waterway. Begun in the 13th century and used to
ferry grain between southern China and the capital at Beijing, it
is now a scenic remnant of China's Medieval past. Transfer to the
hotel upon arrival in Wuxi.
Day 5
Wuxi/Nanjing (AB,L,D)
Today's morning excursion features a boat ride on beautiful Lake
Taihu. After lunch, travel by train to Nanjing and transfer to the
hotel .
Day 6
Nanjing (AB,L,D)
Today's excursion takes you to the Mausoleum of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen,
father of the Chinese republic, as well as the Xiaoling Tomb, resting
place for one of China's many exiled emperors. Spend the afternoon
visiting the famous Nanjing Culinary School to learn about Chinese
cuisine and seea cooking demonstration.
Day 7
Nanjing/Beijing (AB,L,SD)
Start the morning by visiting a local market to experience shopping
the Chinese way. You will see the variety of meats, vegetables and
spices available as locals go about their routine of choosing fresh
ingredients for the day's meal. Afterwards, visit Xuan Wu Lake and
the Zhonghua Gate. After lunch, fly to Beijing and check into the
hotel where you will dine on Sichuan Cuisine. Meet with the chefs
after the meal.
Day 8
Beijing (AB,L,SD)
The highlight today is an excursion to the Great Wall. The longest
man-made object in the world, this 2,000-year-old landmark is an
astonishing feat of engineering. Enjoy the dramatic vistas and marvel
at the Wall as it climbs and descends steep ridges and narrow valleys.
Attend a banquet tonight featuring Dai Nationality cuisine.
Day 9
Beijing (AB,SD)
After breakfast, visit Tiananmen Square, then enter the Forbidden
City - home of Chinese Emperors for more than 500 years. Have lunch
today at a Chaozhou-style restaurant. After lunch, visit the Temple
of Heaven, one of the best examples of Ming Dynasty architecture
in Beijing. Have dinner on your own, or take a walking tour to the
night market. This nightly market near the Forbidden City - lined
with vendors selling various types of foods from throughout China
- is where locals and travelers alike go to enjoy a leisurely stroll
and hearty meal. A great place to people watch too!
Day 10
Beijing (AB,L,SD)
Today's visit starts with the Lama Temple and the Summer Palace.
After lunch if time permit, visit a winery that produces the wine
you will drink in tonight's Beijing Duck Dinner. Tonight, enjoy
this most famous of Chinese dishes - Beijing Roast Duck.
Day 11
Depart Beijing (AB)
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight home.
