Day 3
Beijing (AB,L,SD)
The highlight today is an excursion to the Great Wall - Juyongguan.
Enjoy the dramatic vistas and marvel at the Wall as it climbs and
descends steep ridges and narrow valleys. Attend a welcome banquet
featuring Beijing Roast Duck in the evening.
Day 4
Beijing (AB,L,D)
After breakfast, enjoy a pedicab tour of the Hutongs, the "old
city" neighborhoods of narrow alleyways and courtyard gardens
hidden behind Beijing's modern facade. Visit Prince Gong's Palace,
the Drum Tower, and old-style courtyard houses still inhabited by
Beijing residents. After lunch, visit the Summer Palace, where the
Empress Dowager Ci Xi would go to escape the heat of the city.
Day 5
Beijing/Xi'an (AB,L,D)
After breakfast, take an early morning flight to Xi'an. Transfer
to the hotel, then take a tour of the ancient city walls, the Big
Wild Goose Pagoda and the Bell Tower.
Day 6
Xi'an (AB,L,SD)
Today's highlight is a visit to the Archaeological Museum, home
to more than 6,000 life-size terra-cotta warriors and horses excavated
from the tomb of the first emperor of the Qin Dynasty. After lunch,
visit the Neolithic Village of Banpo which contains relics from
the earliest known inhabitants of China, as well as the Xiahe Village.
In the evening, attend a Tang Dynasty dinner show.
Day 7
Xi'an/Nanjing (AB,L,D)
Morning sightseeing will take you to the Shanxi Provincial Museum,
then after lunch, transfer to the airport for your flight to Nanjing.
Upon arrival in Nanjing, check into the hotel. In the evening, enjoy
a boat ride on the Qinghuai River, affording both beautiful scenery
and a glimpse into the lives of the local people.
Day 8
Nanjing (AB,L,D)
Today's excursion takes you to Zhonghua City Gate, the Yangtze River
Bridge, Ling Gu Monastery, and the Mausoleum of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen,
father of the Chinese republic.
Day 9
Nanjing/Wuxi (AB,L,SD)
After breakfast, take a train to Wuxi. Transfer to the hotel, then
visit the Garden of Contentment, make a boating excursion on Lake
Taihu, and tour the famous Li Garden.In the evening, attend a banquet
featuring local specialties.
Day 10
Wuxi/Suzhou (AB,L,D)
After breakfast, take a boat ride along the famous Grand Canal to
Suzhou, a city noted both for its classical gardens and its Venetian-style
canal streets. Sightseeing will include Tiger Hill -the symbol of
Suzhou - as well as the Garden of the Humble Administrator and the
Silk Embroidery Research Institute. Spend this evening at the hotel

Day 11
Suzhou/Hangzhou (AB,L,D)
Visit the Garden of the Master of Nets in the morning, then take
an afternoon train to Hangzhou, known as one of the most beautiful
cities in China. Transfer to the hotel upon arrival, then visit
a local family to have tea and talk. Have free time to relax before
dinner.
Day 12
Hangzhou (AB,L,D)
After breakfast, tour the Ling Yin Monastery, then visit a tea plantation,
where you will sample Hangzhou's famous tea. Enjoy a boat ride on
the West Lake, whose idyllic scenery has been the source of inspiration
for countless poets and painters. After lunch, tour the private
Guozhuang Garden and Tiger Springs.
Day 13
Hangzhou/Shanghai (AB,L,D)
A morning train takes you to Shanghai - "Paris of the Orient".
Transfer to the hotel. Afternoon sightseeing features the bustling
shopping street Nanjing Road, the famous promenade along the Huangpu
River, the Bund, and the Yuyuan Garden, famous for its rock gardens,
pavilions, halls and ponds.
Day 14
Shanghai/West Coast (AB)
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight home.
Day 15
Shanghai/Guilin (AB,L)
After breakfast, take a morning flight to Guilin. Upon arrival,
transfer to the hotel, then begin sightseeing with a city tour,
including Reed Flute Cave and Fobo Hill. Have dinner on your own
this evening.
Day 16
Guilin (AB,L)
Today's excursion is a cruise along the beautiful Li River. Experience
the magical beauty of limestone rock formations and farm land commonly
seen in Chinese landscape paintings. Disembark at the charming village
of Yangshuo, which has one of the best antique and craft markets
in China. Browse at the market, then board a return coach to Guilin.
Have the evening free to explore and dine on your own.
Day 17
Guilin/Hong Kong (AB,L)
Today's excursion begins with Elephant Trunk Hill and the Hill of
Piled Brocade, followed by Seven Star Peak. Take a late afternoon
flight to Hong Kong and transfer to the hotel upon arrival. Have
the evening free to explore. Dine on your own.
Day 18
Hong Kong (AB)
Enjoy a half-day Hong Kong island tour, including Aberdeen and Victoria
Peak.
Day 19
Depart Hong Kong (AB)
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight home.
